In 2020-2021, the National Institute on Aging (NIA) convened a working group (Contributors) to update the guidance on best practices for the ADRCs in the acquisition, preparation, and storage of biospecimens. These updated documents are included below by topic, along with best practice recommendations for other areas. The recommendations for annual ADRC External Advisory Committee meetings, which may also assist in preparing ADRC Progress Reports, were developed in 2017.

These best practices are intended as a resource for new Centers and any Centers who are starting a new line of research. They should not be construed as requirements for Center activities.

We appreciate that many of these areas are rapidly evolving, so will periodically re-evaluate these guidelines to determine if further updates are needed.

* Included in the original working group guidance. A single PDF of the collected working group guidance is available for reference here
